Noé Solange - Found Our Way (Anjunachill) [Chill-Out]
Noé Solange is a London-based nomadic soul, producer, singer and multi-instrumentalist, who has been honing her dreamy chill-out meets ethereal pop vibe for the last seven years. If you've had a hard day at the office or a tiring night on the dance floor, then she could well be just the sonic tonic the doctor ordered.
Well, her new EP has just dropped, "Found Our Way" is the release's title track, and fans won't be disappointed. Quivering, glistening synth tones pave the way as her spectral twin haunts the intro's shadows, queuing up her low-gravity, silky smooth voice - just the sort of friend you need whispering in your ear after that hard day/long night, and a well-told tale of (dis/re)connection. The sound palette is reassuringly familiar: comforting synth pads appear then float off into the ether - the classic downtempo drums providing a bit of forward momentum, but unable to anchor the machine-made atmospherics. Throw in a couple of gentle builds where the drums subtly hint at their clubbier cousins whilst a hooky synth adds emotional heft, and you've got a nice slice of classic-sounding vocal chill-out with wide appeal.
Don't stop there though. The following "Stay" and "Lost" mine similar noughties territory to keep the vibe going, although not quite so adroitly, but tee up the ambient delights of "Fade" with its drum-free, swirling, gaseous synthscape and almost translucent vocal layers, a treat.
