About Us

The Slow Music Movement is an independent blog that evolved from years of music experiences - gig going, raving, vinyl collecting, blogging, radio, music retail and distribution, brand soundtracking and DJing, as well as promoting parties and live events in London, Barcelona, Berlin and Lisbon for many years.

It's human, driven by curiosity and a passion for sharing alternative music from independent artists. It's a herbal antidote to the corporate algorithms and "AI" recommendations designed to keep you in your musical echo chamber and make those companies more money. The Slow Music Movement credits people with intelligence and inquisitiveness, and whilst providing plenty of familiar vibes, is also about taking listeners out of their comfort zones by showcasing unknown artists and oddball music. Go on, I dare you.

Sure there is a strong focus on lazy & hazy vibes that are perfect for those chill out moments, but hold tight anything can happen, and so it should. From cosmic jazz to deep dub, post punk to futuristic electronica, outsider folk to Balearic warmth and twisted neoclassical music. It's all good.

Finally, there's roughly a hundred thousand tracks released every day,  that's an insane amount of music. Sadly much of it is commercial or crap, not to mention the recent and very rapid increase in AI generated musical slop, which shouldn't be let anywhere near a speaker let alone an ear drum. Any sane person needs help and filters to make sense of it all and track down the good shit. The Slow Music Movement, and other blogs, are here to help.

Tune in, turn on and drop out.

There are plenty of social options, but if you're serious about music & don't want to miss a tip then ditch the algorithms and sign up to the newsletter or follow the blog.
