Phexioenesystems - Tone Colour Garden (Salmon Universe)

I do like a bit of otherworldly ambient music, especially on a Sunday. Day of rest battery charging is most definitely best done with feet up, eyes closed and mind faraway, if only for the length of an album or even better a playlist - it is 2024 after all. The wellness effects are real.

So say hello to Phexioensystems and his self performing sonic ecosystems, which sound a touch A.I. and somewhat lazy if you ask me. In his defence though I did check his Youtube channel for evidence of his deckchair collection and could only find this video of him at work; he must be a grafter as he's got more modular synths than your local music shop and just working out where all those cables should go suggests a keen mind.

It's also a conceptual work with some nice ideas (see release notes), but the why and how don't mean a lot if the music isn't up to much and I'm happy to report it's hitting the Sunday sweet spot. Luminescent tones flicker on and off, momentarily lighting this machine made wonderland; the sound of water is never far away and those that dare to close their eyes, or at least wear headphones, are rewarded by the sounds of a safe space rich in harmonious ecosystemic detail & auditory allure. Perhaps the machines aren't so bad after all?

Enjoyment aside, I do wonder though how many hours of machine performances were triggered, recorded and edited to create this LP, but maybe it's something else that doesn't really matter if the soundscapes are this beguiling and the sonic escapism so real?
