As mentioned in today's other blog post, he's got two albums dropping on September 4th via We Are Busy Bodies, and both are sounding very promising. This track is taken from the upcoming Kitsune No Yomeiri release, which is based around a series of field recordings he captured of the spring rain during his Japanese tour, and also takes inspiration from some of the people he met whilst there. It's a premise ideally suited to Dawson's ability to tune into his surroundings, whilst easing his tenderly played guitar and sympathetic synthesizers into the mix; and as expected, he comes up trumps.
On "Shimokitazawa 6AM", the precipitation is nudged into the distance to make space for the early morning silence. Gentle synth tones float out of the apartment window to take in the fresh, damp air and better survey the unusually empty street. Before the coffee machine is even plugged in, he opens his trusty guitar case and serenades the rare city quiet, finding rare synergy between his ambient Americana inclinations and the urban soundscape demands. Bring on the album.
