Michael Scott Dawson - Night Music (We Are Busy Bodies) [New Age]

Michael Scott Dawson is a Canadian sound artist and producer with a soft touch, and a great line in electroacoustic ambient works that consistently hit home here at TSMM HQ, and well beyond. As well as paying attention to his new works, you should definitely head back in time too; maybe start with The Tinnitus Chorus and have a mooch about; you won't be disappointed.

He's also been busy recently with two new albums set for release in September on one of his recent label homes - We Are Busy Bodies - who definitely live up to their name. "Night Music" is taken from his forthcoming Long Slow Distance album, which is admirably framed around the idea of finding peace, but perhaps more practically, making peace where it can't be found.

Unsurprisingly, it's a really gentle and, yes, peaceful ambient guitar track. The strings are caressed rather than plucked, the electronic augmentation shimmers, sparkles and glistens good-naturedly, and sounds echo into the distance, hanging in the air to accentuate the serenity, before their gradual, accepting descent into the sonic void. It's a soothing slice of blissful ambient meets new age music that will sound great during your summer holiday inactivity, or if you're not taking a holiday like me, then it will make you worry a whole lot less about your summer workload.
