The nomadic meka, born in the States but now residing in the mountains of the Czech Republic, comes from a long line of cosmos contemplating musicians, some of whose instruments she has inherited. She's a self taught multi-instrumentalist, singer songwriter and poet, with a rare sensitivity to our earthly home and its inhabitants, as you'd perhaps expect from such a culturally, spiritually and environmentally attuned soul.

This is her third single in recent months as she works towards the release of her debut album on Dumont Dumont sometime later this year. "Temperance" was a full bodied affair, aided by some uplifting piano and stirring strings at times to help get the party started. The wonderfully entitled, "Tomato Song" followed; a sweet, sentimental toe tapper which further cemented her affinity to the wide-eyed optimistic folk sounds of fifty and sixty years ago, and don't we all need some of those positive vibes these days.
As accomplished as the first two singles were, "Baby Blues" is where we get our first true glimpse into the soul of this obviously accomplished artist. The simple yet seductive guitar immediately signals her guard is down and ushers you closer to hear this trip down memory lane, to simpler times and a special moment with a special friend. There is a real purity and simple truth to the tune, accentuated by the subtle, keening sound of a fiddle in the background seemingly summoning the spirit world to witness this rising talent too.
It's as intimate and moving a folk debut as you'll hear this year, and I one for am looking forward to the album.
