The cover for Franco Pain's, "nothing new here" single, showing Pain riding a brown horse in a desert at sunset, with another horse in the foreground and mesa silhouettes in the background.

Details are thin on the ground, but Francos Pain is an out-of-the-box thinking American Turkish singer-songwriter, who fired up his Instagram in 2018, with his first releases dropping two years later, and.... Well, that's all I know. You'd better have a listen.

Black-and-white photo of a band performing in a small venue, with Francos Pain on the mic looking back at his band.

His latest track is a curious affair, kicking off with some perky, looped guitar strumming that harks back to last century, but it's not long before some effected vocal samples start wafting around, signalling we might be in for a more progressive treat, and which pave the way nicely for Pain's reflective and relatable spoken words.

The best is still to come though, as the bowed, somewhat wayward strings say hello, his voice gets looped and layered - a one-man duet, and then wallop, in comes a rumbling bass, the warmth immediately felt in the studio, and causing all sorts of lysergic synths, samples and swirls to suddenly bloom. The layers then spiral up and away with the strings and things inspiring Pain to launch into more recognisable, soulful yet distinctive song and taking you with him. Fresh and freaky toad-licked alt-pop for '26.
