Blanc du Bland is a shadowy dub crusader from New Jersey who, with the help of a few friends, has been giving the classic Jamaican sounds a modern twist or two, whilst respecting the foundations of this evergreen sound. Scientist should need no introduction to the reggae savvy. A disciple of King Tubby, who actually got his engineering start at Tubby's studio back in the day, he's been keeping the dub flame alight for more decades than he probably cares to remember, so this is quite the duo.

The sounds of a vintage organ having the dust blown off it gets the ball rolling in serious throwback style, quickly joined by a suitably easy skanking classic riddim to set the scene around 1975, fifty years ago, and don't it sound good. It's not long before some dubbed out horns join the party to accentuate that vintage feel, as the simple but seductive bassline weaves its low frequency magic throughout the track. This is a trip down reggae memory lane to the days when real musicians outnumbered the producers, and time honed playing was augmented rather than replaces by the mixing desk master. These classic dub sounds just age like fine wine.
