The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Thesis Recurring [Complete & Condensed] (Thesis Project)

WHAT THE COVER LOOKS LIKE

WHAT WE SAY:

Wake up, work, relax, sleep - Mon-Fri loop. Supermarket, clean the house, family, socialise - weekend loop. Christmas, summer holiday, seasons - annual loop. Thesis recurring is a series of evocative short loops from the ambient world's finest to soundtrack our repetitive lives. The only difference being, given electricity, they will never end.

Makes sure you check out the rest of their (less loopier) amazing catalogue.

WHAT YOUR EARS SAY:

WHAT THE PRESS RELEASE SAYS:

The loop repeats itself forever - always in motion, but going nowhere. Doomed to start over eternally.

The photo stops what can not stop - a stillness that never existed but has now become a way of remembering the motion of moments.

The loop, having a beginning and an end, begs the composer to think about the end at the beginning and the beginning at the end. This heightened awareness of time as repeating makes the loop a wholly unique composition.

Here you will find a musical composition intended to be looped for as long as you like and a photograph that accompanies the loop on the app.

These tracks are specially formulated to play as a single loop. 1000 samples of the front were crossfaded with 1000 samples at the end to assure a true infinite loop. This series will be continued on the THESIS RECURRING APP built for iPhone. Look for it in the App Store and get all the new updates. Android version coming soon!
