The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Temporal Marauder - The Shape Of Love (Ketu)

WHAT YOUR EARS SAY & THE COVER LOOKS LIKE

WHAT WE SAY

Temporal Marauder have just been reincarnated through the Ketu Recordings rebirthing program, exuviating the experimental excess for a pleasingly accessible, retro futuristic, sometimes sweet sometimes soaring, but always psychedelic soaked synth pop body.

WHAT THE RELEASE NOTES SAY

Temporal Marauder is a fictional band that became a real band. Helmed once upon a time by the legendary French synthesist Jean Logarin for its Spectrum Spools debut, Makes You Feel. The project recently, if temporarily, solidified into the actually-existing duo of Joseph Raglani and Erica Sparks. Brought together by their mutual appreciation of the haunted psychedelic lounge music of Broadcast and Stereolab, this second iteration of Temporal Marauder was bound from the outset to focus its attention on how our attractions and affections are mediated by the fantasy of what two people can share, while remaining limited by the reality of what they can’t. In keeping with the filmic bent of their inspirations, The Shape of Love explores the ways that every love story is also a mystery, tracking the bittersweet struggle to let the present weigh more than the past. It captures the unsettled confusion of romantic ascent with descent, and the foreboding premonition of how endings tend to embed themselves in their beginnings.
