The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Slow Music Recommendations round up - 27/4/2019

Welcome to our weekly RSS feed friendly round up of this week's daily music recommendations, just in case you are reducing screen time or don't want to ride the dictatorial algorithmic rollercoasters on social media.

Sora - Re.Sort (MItsuko/Svetlana/wrwtfww)

Rhythmically stuttering and sonically spluttering but with that peculiar Japanese melodic easy listenability this reminder of Sora's forgotten modern gem distributed by Wrwtfww Records is a pleasingly unhinged chilled charmer.

Alfa Mist - Structuralism (Bandcamp)

Mixing old school hip hop with laid back jazz is
Alfa Mist's raison d'etre rather than an experiment and probably why he does it so well. Check out his brain nourishing as well as head nodding new LP.

Elkhorn - Sun Cycle/Elk Jam (Feeding Tube)

"Two mind-bending slabs of acoustic and electric guitars, wandering into corners of acid-logic". More great turned on & tuned in psychedelic folk rock, this time from Elkhorn on Feeding Tube Records

Beluga Stone & Master Stone - Spiritual Surfing (UknowMe)

Swirling in a lighter shade of purple haze & rooted with a rhythmic hip hop anchor the future soul & psychedelic leaning guitar led electonic haziness of Poland's Beluga Trigga (P.Unity) & Master Stone for U Know Me Records is a great late night listen.

Malk - Wmaidit (Lost Tribe Sound)

Peculiarity & listenability don't always go hand in hand but MALK, armed only with his musical third eye, a heap of Scottish field recordings, some strings, esoteric wind instruments & a toy keyboard has produced one of the most singular albums of 2019 for Lost Tribe Sound. I strongly urge you to check this out.

Wai Wai Music Resort - WWMR 1 (Local Visions)

Sun roof down, oversized shades on, one hand on the wheel the other holding a fruit cocktail & cruise into the week with this easy listening EP of soulful Japanese smooth grooves from Wai Wai Music Resort for Local visions.

Floating Points - Late night tales (Late Night Tales)

I don't listen to many mix CDs these days but when they consistently vibe like this lovingly segued, heartfelt selection of smokey soul, laid back jazz fusions and modern electronic midnight hour mood setters from Floating Points for Late Night Tales then I'm all in.
