The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Slow Music Recommendations Round up - 20/4/2019

Welcome to our weekly RSS feed friendly round up of this week's daily music recommendations, just in case you are reducing screen time or don't want to ride the dictatorial algorithmic rollercoasters on social media.

Centrum - För Meditation (Rocket Recordings)

Transcend the near dystopian future, climate breakdown & Easter traffic jams by setting the sat nav to inner peace & the sound of 60's optimism with Sweden's Centrum & their Eastern drone enriched, transcendental, psychedelic folk rock for Rocket Recordings

Biodive - 40 Now (Church Recordings)

Feelgood Friday vibes with this 4 track EP of dreamy electronica. The most liquid of drum and bass, new age of New Age breaks, old school arm raising piano line euphoria & an after party come down classic to round off all that excitement from Biodive for Church

Future Museums - Tea Service (Proceeds to The Lilith Fund)

Texan Neil Lord and his Future Museums project are on a roll this year with another great release of outer spacial synth work and consciousness expanding ambience this time for the, surprisingly still necessary cause - The Lilith Fund for Reproductive Equity.

Burnt Paw - Lunar Vortex Incantations (Bandcamp)

Fine fingerpicked, Celtic myth rooted, acoustic guitar conveyed, animism reviving folk with transtlantic echoes & a distant Eastern gaze from Edinburgh's Burnt Paw on this well priced self release if supporting great, truly independent music is your thing

Bantam Lions - Can We Come Together (Bandcamp)

Check out this pure of heart, flashback inducing house music EP bringing a tear to this old raver's eyes - uplifting, unifying, life affirming, smile inducing, emotional dance music that should be the end of night tune for every outdoor festival this year from
Bantam Lions. Spread the love.

Brenda Ray - Naffi years 1979-1983 (Em Records)

Bowl into the week with the oddly pricey, but nevertheless maverick & masterful, good old days sounds of Brenda Ray+crew & their adventures in lofi, pop sprinkled, post punk attitude & funk injected early digi dub fusions, recorded to 4 track cassette.

Ciro Berenguer - El Mar De Junio (Eilean Records)

Sunday listening sorted as Ciro Berenguer Music's manipulated string notes, field recordings and bowed psaltery (look it up, I had to!) condense into wispy electro acoustic ambient clouds on a hot day before delighting & refreshing with their light sonic shower. Praise also to weather gods Eilean Rec.
