The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Singles & EPs roundup - april 11th, 2022

Dominique - Help Me Decide (Perpetual Doom)

A beautiful voice, simple but effective playing with some nice leftfield production twists, quirky sound palette adornments and a satisfyingly hard to pin down genre ambiguity, all mark Dominique out as an artist to watch. May 27th is debut LP day - pop it in the diary.

Clariloops - Micro Macro (Self Release)

Vertical Divider
Clariloops debut LP was a somewhat simplistic yet seductively pure exercise in pedal looped clarinet. She's since ventured into more nuanced electronic production, fascinatingly charting the process on social media & here we have her evolutionary leap into serene, fully realised electroacoustic ambient fusion. Genuinely lovely.

Various Artists - Music For kō (Erased Tapes)

Erased Tapes really have got an embarrassment of roster riches. Here they slip out a 4 track EP from some of their talented crew, who take it in turns meandering through the electronically fused neo classical twilight zone.

theboywhochosethesea - the seas beyond the stars (Expert Sleepers)

Vertical Divider
This is the title track & my favourite from the new LP by theboywhochosethesea. Although the whole LP is not quite my cuppa there are 3 tracks in particular that are leftfield piano rooted, electroacoustic gems and which bode well for the future of this adventurous artist.
