The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Singles & EPs Roundup - 14th June, 2022

Troll Dolly - Microcosms (Astoria Tracks)

A sweet and charming freak folk fringed psychedelic pop outing from Troll Dolly and a taste of what seems like a most inventive and eclectic LP - Heaven's Mini Mart, that is due later this month. Put the date in your diary and give her a follow, she's one to watch.

Gotopo - Maravilla En La Desgracia (Tayrona)

As if Gotopo's whispered, almost ASMR like, sultry Latin voice wasn't engaging enough, she is riding an impressive, at times hushed, ultimately thunderous cinematic arrangement from Robot Koch that propels the track into the realms of Latin folk futurism.

Kinzoogianna - Saving Grace (Brotherly Music)

The keen eyed will have probably noticed that I have a soft spot for Kinzoogianna, her multi-instrumental talents and her recently relentless soul grind, mining all the right influences - this time 4-Hero in their nu-jazz prime on this wonderful slice of liquid drum and bass meets soul jazz fusion that deserves a place on your summer playlist.

Frankson feat. Kathrin De Boer (LxL, DxD)

I've always had a soft spot for the voice of Katrin De Boer so it was a pleasant surprise when this track popped up unbidden in my Discover Weekly playlist - perhaps those algorithms aren't so bad after all? (I actually find them quite useful). Here she dreams, drifts and soars her away across a great hypnotic sofa house production from Frankson.
