The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Singles & EPs Round up - September 19th, 2022

Joshua Burnside - Late Afternoon In the Meadow (1887) [Attic Thing]

Vertical Divider
Joshua Burnside has been hiding in plain sight if his number of Spotify listeners are anything to go by, but I'm finally hip to his blend of prosaic and infinitely more poetic yet still plain speaking lyricism, which in this case floats over a pleasantly twisted blend of familiar instrumentation. Check him out and other great independent folk artists on the Slow Folk Playlist.

GZ Tian, Tamara Canada - Don't Go (Baby) [TITian]

Sometimes you've just got to light the candles, pour a couple of glasses of something decent and have an intimate moment with someone special and if you're soulfully inclined then I suggest hitting playing play and having an old fashioned smooch to this distinctly old school, late night lovers soul tune from stylistically versatile youngster Tian. Check this & more in our Slow Soul selection.

I Used To Be Sam - Forgiveness (LAVICHI)

Vertical Divider
Sometimes even TSMM likes to escape the world of alternative music and head into less taxing pop territory, which is what this track from IUTB Sam promises before giving the vocals  a jazz inflected soul injection and throwing in some strings alongside all sorts of unexpected sonic detail adding extra depth & dimensions to the easy listening, which helps no end with our pop guilt.
Check her out on our Slow Pop playlist.

Cash I/O - Wednesday Evening (mfluxmusic)

Sax kissed, head nodding beats are given added audio interest by microdosed, sun warped electronic tones that provide a hazy bed for the main instruments and which make the lights twinkle just that little bit brighter on this low key lysergic easy listener. Donate to Cash I/O now.
This is currently sounding nice as an acid-lite addition to our eclectic Slow Psyche playlist.
