The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Singles & EPs Round Up - September 14th, 2022

Sun Rain - Fog Dance (Deep Heads

Vertical Divider
Ambient New Age vibrations are tethered by the flimsiest of percussive elements to  provide a soft bed for the seemingly sofa recorded sax to drift over in this wonderfully warm slice of horizontalology from Sun Rain, taken from a very promising forthcoming compilation suitably entitled Cosmic Vibrations. You can also check the track and a host of like minded music in our New Age of New Age Playlist.

Insólito Universo - Ese Puerto Existe (Olindo)

Great to hear Insolito Universo back on one of my favourite homes of deep rootsical endeavour Olindo Records with a great slice of folkloric Latin psychedelia backed up by a very modern twist on their sound by Awkward Corners. Check out the track on our Slow World playlist, which explores our planet's diverse musical delights.

Lukács Márton - Still (Self Release)

Vertical Divider
I was very happy to stumble across Lukács Márton this week, he sounds like a talent in the making and this is a great slice of modern jazz fusion, as a seemingly innocuous smooth modern piano opening soon descends into a swirl of modern sci-fi synths and hip hop drums. Keep an eye on this one and and an ear on our Slow Jazz playlist for the latest cream from the lesser known independent jazz underground.

Hal Cannon - Tarantual March (OkehDokee)

I'm guessing Hal Cannon spends a lot of time in the US wilderness chewing buttons and contemplating the wonders of the natural world, as not many people know quite as much about tarantulas as he does, or would be quite so inclined to write a fine slice of borderline unhinged psychedelic Americana to celebrate their odd arachnidic ways. You can also check him and some fellow trippers out in our Slow Psyche playlist.
