The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Singles & EPs Round Up - October 19th, 2022

Fusion Affair - Dasha (Chuwanaga)

Vertical Divider
If classic, laid back jazz fusion is your thing then take a running jump into the new single from Fusion Affair, who are a jazz funk crew hailing from Paris keeping that 70s spirit (and quality) alive as well as giving it a modern nujazz and jazz house twist. I'm looking forward to the full release dropping in November.
Check them out on the Slow Jazz playlist.

Black Brunswicker - Under An Autumnal Sky (Self Release)

It's always a pleasure when a new dreamy, folky Black Brunswicker release drops and this one is a special one. "This release is dedicated to my upcoming marriage to my partner Michol. It's music for idle day dreaming about good days to come and for slow weekend mornings spent with someone you love." I have to say he sounds pretty content and in love if this blissful EP is anything to go by and I wish him well on the big day.

Village of the Sun - Tigris (Gearbox)

Vertical Divider
Village of the Sun is a really intriguing new jazz fusion project coming out of London as the hungry new generation duo of Binker Golding & Moses Boyd hook up with Simon Ratcliffe of Basement Jazz fame; who has serious, decades long jazz form outside of his more dance and pop focused main project, and trust me they're going deep.
You can also check this out on the Slow Jazz playlist.

Jenny O - The Natural World (Mama Bird)

The new Jenny O single is a real ear worm. I was intrigued on first listen, not to mention charmed by the kooky video. On the second play I had fully succumbed to it's weirdy, wobbly pop powers and am now looking forward to the album.

Check her out on the Slow Pop playlist.
