The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Singles & EPs Round Up - November 14th, 2022

Francesco Milloni - Pyramiden [Asleep (re)work] (Self Release)

Vertical Divider
The sound of closely recorded hammers hitting piano strings get slowly immersed into the ambient synths and subtle electronics until they sink slowly from view before breaking the surface momentarily right at the song's final breath in this wonderful slice of neoclassical from Milloni, that tugs at the traditionalist and futurist with equal measure.
It also sounds great in the Slow Neoclassical Playlist.

Klara Goliger - New Year Kid (Self Release)

The wonderful pop leaning vocals of Goliger need little embellishment which is just as well as they only have the plucked and bowed sounds of an upright bass for company in this masterful, beautifully recorded slice of modern minimalistic pop where less is most definitely more. I'll race you her newly released LP, but in the meantime check this single in theSlow Pop playlist.

VRAELL - SMOKE (NETTWERK)

Vertical Divider
Starting out as a seemingly innocuous slice of modern singer songwriting, albeit with a compelling vocal quality that demands you don't immediately dismiss it, the new single from Vraell takes its time to bloom into its full orchestral, psychedelic pop glory that continues to surprise and delight right until the very end and which sounds great kicking off the Slow Psyche Playlist.

Michal Rataj / Oskar Török - A is for Air [SP] (Blue Lizard)

Oh ambient jazz how I love you so, and this is another fine - all too rare example of the genre, recorded at Rataj's home studio with the sounds of Török's trumpet gliding through the  deep space electronic depths unhindered by friction or gravity. Oh why is this track hidden away, soon to be forgotten in the depths of Bandcamp? If buying music is not your thing anymore (like most people) then check the Slow Jazz Playlist anytime.
