The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Singles & EPs Round Up - May 20th, 2022

Smoke Chaser - Highway One (Self Release)

Vertical Divider
I usually skip the press blurb & just hit play but: "It's a 'burn-one-and-drive-down-the-coast' tune. It's a celebration of Henry Miller and sex." did catch my attention & might have even curried sub-conscious favour, not that it needed to as the pleasingly hazy, sunny and psychedelic yacht rock with its trippy and perfectly suited video did the rest. One for the hippy love children of summer 2022 and maybe even the Balearic boys and girls?

Nancy Mounir with Zaki Mourad - Gannentini (Simsara)

This is a really intriguing project. I passed on the first single for some forgotten reason but this generational soundclash between the faded, crackly archival recordings of Egypt's long gone singing greats and the shining new light of Nancy Mounir's modern compositions is a juxtapositional gem.

Lindsay Clark - Evening Star (

Vertical Divider
Clark is firing on all cylinders in the run up to her June 24th Carpe Noctem LP release, and here she is showing a really promising versatility and open minded approach to folk, as her gently wafting, ear tingling vocals are carried along on a warm ambient folk breeze.

Trio Ramberget aren't hanging about this year. After the recent, genre ambiguous joys of 24 Ways, Vol. II, they are back with another they/them type of tune that wears its ambient/drone, jazz and neoclassical traits comfortably; reveling and celebrating its uniqueness, as it should.
