The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Singles & EPs Round Up - May 12th, 2022

Space Between Clouds - Space Between Clouds (AKK)

Vertical Divider
Slowly evolving, pleasingly musical electroacoustic ambient gets tickled with some opiated jazz seemingly recorded in a reclining chair, in this horizontal ode to deserts and windswept coastlines. Put May 20th in your diary.

Bastien Keb - Organ Recital (Gearbox)

I've been supporting Bastien Keb since day one and he hasn't put a foot wrong since, and has been slowly, surely and  deservedly creeping into the global consciousness ever since. This opening track from his summer schedules LP sounds like more of the same. Can't wait to check the rest out.

jeff Darko - Strange Dreams (Self Released)

Vertical Divider
A Ghanaian living between London and Barcelona who produces similarly restless music that flits between leftfield pop and Afrofuturism with hints of age old spirituals and psychedelic meddling. It's always nice to hear something that is unrepentantly different with crossover potential to keep the mainstream on their toes and teach them new tricks.

Brona Mcvittie - The Woman in the Moon (Company of Corkbots)

You probably know by now that I've got a soft spot for McVittie's wonderful voice and accomplished harp playing. Well luckily for the world she's just slipped out a double A-sided single of cultured cosmic folktronica and more traditional Celtic fare to shamelessly show off her versatility and many qualities.
