The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Singles & EPs Round Up - March 4th, 2023

Kats - Contours (Self Release)

Vertical Divider
Although he's been going solo for a couple of years now, Kats is a new name to me, mainly due to him being resident keyboardist for other group efforts. Anyway I'm vibing off this track from his new single, a perfect blend of jazz keyboard rooted ethereal electronica that dreams of a futuristic New Age, where the Anthropocene was somehow averted - lovely stuff.
Find it floating around the Slowtronic Playlist.

Herman Mack - Bluster (Self Release)

I love it when a tune is bare bones yet seductive; the natural beauty allowed to shine - no make up necessary. Forget D&B and get into some D&G instead as Mack's smooth, hypnotic guitar playing floats like a warm breeze over the pleasingly primitive drum work.
Luckily the Slow Balearic Playlist is a good home for such compelling musical vaguery.

Blurstem x Andrew Tasselmyer - Heron (Fluid Audio & Anthem Falls)

When two artists you admire come together it often provides better PR rather than lofty expectation fulfillment. Fortunately Blurstem & Tasselmyer seemer to be synergising to compelling ambient neoclassical effect & certainly won't be ruining any pre-arranged listening parties.
You can currently find them mellowing out the Slow Neoclassical Playlist.

Cloud Physics - Autumn Over Marble (Self Release)

Cloud Physics lives up to his name by threading his dreamy vocals through some barely propulsive piano and all sorts of white fluffy sonic detailing to help drown out the noise and make the world a decidedly more pleasant place to live.

One for The New Age of New Age playlist.

Les Mamans du Congo & Rrobin - Dia (Jarring Effects)

Vertical Divider
The new single from these musical Congo mothers is here and it's another winner - you might remember them from a recent blog post plug? Once again RROBIN provides the 2023 rhythmic  assistance and subtle electronic elevation for the wonderful voices of these African queens to soar over.
They're currently gracing the Slow World Playlist.
