The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Singles & EPs Round Up - July 21, 2020

Slowburner - Nebula (Bandcamp)

Vertical Divider
Diving deep into the ambient trench with his video & music studio equipped submarine, Slowburner celebrates the beauty of the forgotten creatures of the seas' depths. The video and the music work in perfect harmony, but if you just want the music then head to his Bandcamp.

She Keeps Bees ft. Tim Carr - Star Stone Skin (Future Gods

One of the best isolation collaborations I've come across. This is a wonderful slice of folk rock, the track has a real haunting beauty. Let's hope this is just the start.

Oberlin - Bodman (Hibernate)

Vertical Divider
A lovely, thoughtful, long form, electro-acoustic track from Oberlin. The field recordings hog the limelight, as few other sound sources are distinct, but the whole slowly bubbling ambient soup has undeniable synergy & beauty.

Winsome - Untitled #2 (Sugar)

Once I get all my records out of boxes again, I might find this 12". Luckily for all those without a record player or mad amounts of  lolly to blow on Discogs, the series has now been made available digitally with all proceeds going to a good home.

Hologram Teen - Dalston Wizardzz (Ransome Note)

The original cut is a perfectly serviceable slice of laid back nu-disco, but then comes along disco Don Al Kent and pimps the track up with extra percussion, cosmic keys and disco bounce, especially for all the deeper disco queens.
Vertical Divider

Mike Bandoni - Exogenesis (Bandcamp)

Drummers have mostly remained hidden, quite literally, in music history, & drummer led projects are few and far between. Kudos then to Mike Bandoni for putting his funky drums front and center in this eclectic EP, as he propels the cinematic vibes and space oddysees.

Sault - Afriqua Re-eDits (Bandcamp)

Imitation means you're in demand & is vindication of your vision, so these beefed up, bounced up, dancefloor re-edits of  SAULT are the sincerest form of flattery, the "Bow" version, especially smashes it.

Anunaku & DJ Please - 032 (AD93)

Three tracks - everyone a banger, such a shame no one is dancing these days. Global Music, up until fairly recently, has rarely met the cutting edge of dance music, but this is the perfect fusion of floating outernational vibes and up to the minute club constructs.

Floco Floco - On M'a Dit, Remixes (VersaTile)

One track and three great remixes. The original is a fun uptempo slice of Balearic disco, Gilbr turns it into an all too short, blink and you miss it drug chug gem, before Buffiman supplies my favourite moment with that rare thing - a beatless, ambient banger, & then for good measure also creates a killer, catchy slice of nu-disco..
