The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Singles & EPs Round Up - February 4th, 2022

The Gleaming Corridor - Clear Fork Lookout (

Vertical Divider
Two fine slices of horizontal hypnosis to wind down your week. First off is the blessedly simple but surprisingly hypnotic minimally percussive joys of "Clear Fork Lookout" but if rhythm is not your thing then fear not there is a beatless, cloud like ambient remix on the flip.

HummingbirdXYZ - Anatomy of Light from a Star (Self Release)

Starting off as an audio collage of spoken words & field recordings the song suddenly develops some classical instrumentation before electro percussive glitchiness arrives to cement this tracks place in the genre neutral listenably experimental world.  File under exciting women artists from Canada to watch in 2022.

Half Shadow - I Practice dying (In The Spare Room) [Self Release]

Vertical Divider
This second single from the forthcoming Half Shadow LP has a wonderful kooky, woozy, shroom shrouded musicality to it's rather perturbing song title and main lyrical refrain, which I'm not quite sure whether to laugh or cry at? Either way it's boding well for the LP due in April

Nicolas Bernier - Danses kaléidoscopiques 4 (Bureau Des Frequences)

This EP is quite the ride so toughen up and strap yourself in as it's also musique concrete leaning, but rather being  distressing it's used judiciously to make the softer, orchestrated and synth odyssey parts all the sweeter. It's actually a soundtrack for a modern dance piece so don't forget to physcially go with the flow whilst listening.
