The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Singles & EPs Round Up - February 17th, 2022

Joby Baker - Rain On Dry Ground (Self Release)

Not quite sure what Joby Baker is doing here genre wise & quite possibly neither does here, but I'm luxuriating in its soothing soundwaves, easy like a Sunday countryside stroll vibe and soporific scatting meets gentle free jazz nature. I look forward to checking the whole LP when its unveiled on Bandcamp sometime today.
It also sounds great kicking off the Slow Balearic Playlist.

catch Prichard - Taiko (Self Release)

Vertical Divider
Dragging his recording equipment through a swimming pool of treacle on a gravity free, ambient pop planet must have been expensive but it's paid off handsomely for Catch Prichard whose stream of consciousness slowly wraps around you like a lovingly applied bandage to make you you sleepy, very very sleepy. Now close your eyes and relax....
It also sounds great in the Slow Pop Playlist.

Jesse Blake Rundle - White Hot (Self Release)

Coming out - what a moment that must be?! It's a sad indictment of how difficult it still is - even in more tolerant countries, that there aren't more songs rejoicing such a liberating, life changing day. Even better Jesse Blake Rundle's celebratory song is rooted in the open-minded freak folk pop world & somehow captures the swirling emotions, fears & hopes perfectly.

Foam and Sand - Circle 37 feat. Priscilla Ahn (Nettwerk)

Vertical Divider
The Foam and Sand project of Robot Koch is one of the blog's most featured acts & graces various TSMM playlists. Well here he is again & this time he's got a friend in archangel Priscilla Ahn who descends from her nebula perch to add celestial vocals to this consummately crafted ambient work.

Check the amazing video & then listen again on the
Slow Ambient Playlist.
