The Slow Music Movement Blog

Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but strongly advise you just hit play and make up your own mind.
There's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find these recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Singles & EPs Round Up - December 16th, 2022

Marco Lucchi & Henrik Meierkord - Mornings (Ambientologist)

Vertical Divider
Meierkord seems to be appearing on TSMM fairly regularly - a testament to his consummate cello playing, hard work and eclectic collaborations that hover around our remit, as with this  ambient neoclassical, trio with the glorious sounds of nature andMarco Lucchi for the ever interesting Ambientologist label.
An edit of "Mornings" currently opens the Slow Neoclassical Playlist.

Jasual Cazz - Temple (Chuwanaga)

Chuwanaga out of Paris have leapt on the TSMM jazz radar with all arms waving in '22 repping France's nu-jazz generation and their back to the future grooves. Jasual Cazz's "Temple" is a tempo and energy undulating electro funky fusion which should cross the generational jazz divide and another gem
Check it out on the Slow Jazz Playlist.

Marina Rose - Landslide (Menodora)

Vertical Divider
It's always nice to hear a new soul voice ringing true and clear through the speakers and even better when they come from Nottingham; far away from the capital and a fine city that I have various connections with. Rose is just starting her musical journey and I for one am all ears for what she brings to 2023.
Check her out on the Slow Soul Playlist.

S. van der Toorn - dan zo-even (Sil)

I've been checking Toorn's new, more peaceful musical direction with interest and this end of year hard drive clearout collection of odds and sods is a most pleasant, winding meander along chilled trails, over electroacoustic streams and through ambient pastures.
You can find him on the Slow Ambient Playlist.
