The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Singles & EPs Round Up - 9th June, 2022

Who Are You Lutra Lutra?? - Words (Self Release)

Vertical Divider
I love it when a really unique voice comes along, especially when it's as curiously charming as Ditte Grube's. In fact the whole project is like that, a curious mix of singer songwriting and all sorts of late night, introspective, alternative instrumentation. This is my favourite track, but make sure you peep the rest of the EP.

Frey Arde - Shimmer (7K!)

Those paying attention might remember Arde from when we recommended her Spirt Awake EP, a fine neoclassical folk fusion EP she self released. Well she's been on the grind since then and this more neoclassical focused track has been picked up by K7! for their String Layers Vol. II, which definitely means she's heading in the right direction.

Maris - The Tyranny of Temperance (W.E.R.F.)

Vertical Divider
A pleasantly wayward EP of modern Nordic school singer songwriting from Maris as her crystalline voice cuts through the misty, microdosed production like she was the only one at the party that never drunk the punch, which when you're singing about migraines is probably a good idea.

Mind over MIDI & Paul St. Hilaire - Ital Swing (ROHS)

Languid ambient dub techno would have been enough, but then top it with the vocals of longtime Eurodub Don Paul St. Hilaire and I had to climb to the top of my blog and start shouting about it.
