The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Singles & EPs Round Up - 5th March, 2022.

Slobo+Khabs - To Turn Into Water (OIM)

Lovely dreamy drifting modern folk music with a crystalline quality that flits around your consciousness being careful not to cause a fuss or even demand any attention, but which you can't help but notice due to its fragile beauty. A video of lost astronauts wandering round a forest looking for their space ship is obviously a big bonus.

aden - flow / in the midst (Kit)

I don't know if I'm looking or if it's just that ethereal vocals & sounds are inundating my music radar more, either way it's probably a subconscious attempt to transcend this earthly madness. Regardless, few lack the beauty and singularity of the new aden release which is a wonderfully weightless pop meets angelic soul single.

I'm not sure how I stumbled across this crew from California but I'm more than happy to make their acquaintance, as they seem to be quietly churning out some alluring cosmic country and toad licked Americana one single at a time. Pull up a seat around the camp fire and get rolling.

Cinder Well & Jim Ghedi - I Am a Youth That's Inclined To Ramble (Free Dirt)

I'm hoping that this new single from Cinder Well is early warning of her No Summer follow up. It's been almost two long years since one of my folk LPs of 2020. Here she is accompanied by Jim Ghedi as she steps again into the mushroom circle and tumbles deeper into Celtic folklore in all its beauty, sadness and stoicism.
