The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Singles & EPS Round Up - 21st MARCH, 2022

Strulgattu & Meierkork - Vinterobservationer (Messy Weekend)

Vertical Divider

Nice late night electronic sounds, tension maintaining strings, a nice dubby low end, simple but hypnotic vibes, and not to mention a well done video. First of all I thought the track was too long, now I think it's not quite long enough.

Lauren Duffus - Dubplate 07 (AD 93)

For a girl from rough & tough London, Duffus has a pleasingly dreamy mellow edge to her urban beats - perfect headphone music for the rush hour commute when you need something propulsive to get you where you're going but could do with a rat race transcending vibe to take your mind off its crowded trains and head down mentality.

Some Nicholson - Dark Was The Night (POSH BOY MUSIC)

Nu-soul is not the most adventurous of genres, so this is a pleasing spanner in the formulaic works. Elongated eclesiastical soulful cries form fleeting drones and hover over an ambient bed of organ flourishes, strings and beatless soundscapery in this genre bending first single from Some Nicholson.

Mélys - Agua (Self Release)

Mélys is a serious young talent from France that mines her country's singer songwriter heritage, grabs a dose of Americana inspiration from across the pond, explores folk's many avenues and gives everything a good soul jazz injection because, well, why not when it sounds this good?
