The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Singles & EPs Round up - 17th June, 2021

William Florelle - Conjure Up (Wotnot)

Vertical Divider
It's always nice when a fresh nu-soul voice comes along (though he's been around a while), even better when it's laid over some of the loosest beats you've heard in a while, buoyed by a subtle but bumping bassline and shimmering in a hazy folky glaze. Apparently this is the first of several singles he's dropping this year as well. Bring them on.

Robert Eggplant - Fields of Yarrow (Self Release)

Many ambient artists use recordings of nature in their work and why not? There is no better soundtrack to life. Although audible damage is rarely done by adding found sounds, not so many manage to harmonise abstract and minimal synthetic tones quite so well as Mr. Eggplant has on this track.

Agile Experiments - Bloom Anubis (DDR)

Vertical Divider
After you've freaked out to the psychedelic double drum led cosmic jazz vibes of the recording, make sure you book a ticket to the first live show these guys play on the covid comeback circuit. I'll see you at the front.

Precipitation & Mirage Area - 夢の通信 Dream Communication (梅レコード/ Umé)

I was just rereading this before hitting publish and suddenly realised I'd already recommended this as one of my daily posts! It had to happen I guess - too much music, not enough time or brain cells.. So here it is again, just take the hint and press play.

Percussive Arts Society Vol. 2 (The Whole Truth)

Vertical Divider
A trip down memory lane for the over 50s from Percussive Arts Society, as they dig out those vintage electro sounds whilst not forgetting the funkiness that, alongside the (then) future sounds, was prevalent in so much of the pioneering 80s recordings.

Alejandro Mosso - Other Worlds Vol. 2 (Self Release)

Great to hear Mosso back with some more of his affecting, deeply immersive, binaural techno-animism. It's a warm place  where New Age vibrations meet the future in perfect harmony. With all things binaural headphones are recommended for maximum healing effect.
Vertical Divider

Kat Duma - Daydream (Halycon Trance)

Vertical Divider
Sometimes only the dreamiest, creamiest pop will do, so if you've had a hard day and need an audio head massage then hit play and let Duma's ethereal voice float through the fluffy folktronic clouds to massage your temples. I promise things will be better in the morning.

Shabazz Palaces - 20 Gear Science (Self Release)

My love for Shabazz Palaces and their Afrofuturistic hip hop knows no bounds - I just recommend them on sight and  can't imagine a day when I won't. Even this Bandcamp only single is hotter than your oven.
Vertical Divider

Luke Elliott - 40 Million Cat Hairs (Self Release)

Vertical Divider
Good chill out is seemingly hard to come by these day but this EP is full of cultured, sofa friendly vibes start to finish. Not only has Elliot given the genre a personal makeover he's also managed to capture that easy yet engaging quality that only the genre's best work has.
