The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Singles & EPs Round up - 12th February 2022.

Blue Carbon - Gallery (Self Released)

Blue Carbon is a new project on my ambient radar and one that immediately struck me with it's quality from the off. This latest EP grew from recordings taken in London's galleries - so art created from atmospheres created by art - like it. Now all we need is someone to write a play about the recording.

Disassembler - Impossible Color (Western Vinyl)

This is a deep diving. long listening electroacoustic modern compositional epic made all the remarkable by the fact it was from two artists separated by the width of America. It's not for the feint hearted or short of attention span, but I urge you to jump on, strap in and go for the full neoclassical ride.

josé Lobo - nuevos Dias (Other Songs)

This is a beauty of a single from Lobo to start the march to his forthcoming LP. His whispered singer songwriter intro has a fragility that demands attention lest you somehow break it before the song is slowly bolstered by subtle ambient touches whose wind finally fills Lobo's lungs, puts colour in his cheeks and strength in his voice.

FUTVRST - Lustre/Sun Phase (Star Creature Universal vibrations)

Star Creature have hit the ground running this year and this is my pick of their new batch of releases, a couple of warm weather slices of Balearic boogie. The A-Side has a a lovely uptempo free floating vintage space jazz vibe before the flip side drops the tempo but has a funky, preening, best clobber, sunglasses on the head, strut along the promenade feel to it.
