The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Singles, EPs, Bits & Bobs Round up - Jan 20th, 2022

Victor Mucho - Many Moons (Tone Tree)

I've just stumbled across Mr. Mucho whose day job is with electro folk popsters Judah & The Lion, but who has shed his overtly commercial sheen for this solo project & headed off into still polished but altogether more lovely, intimate folktronic & indie-folk territory. Lovely stuff.

Jolanda Moletta - Spell I: let the Waves In (Ambientologist)

Vertical Divider
I like a bit of ambient fusion or deviance, rather than just one man (and it is usually a man) and his machine. The fusion aspect usually adds more depth and pleasing diversity and when it's a voice as lovely as Moletta's, unanchored by instrumentation, and with her wordless vocal dexterity invoking the spirits of her female ancestry, then I'm all ears. The first of 8 singles apparently so give her a follow to catch them all.

Iso - One (Self Release)

This is the opening track from Iso's debut LP. A piano led, lighter than air, wispy ambient cloud of a tune, that I'm pretty sure will have therapeutic effects if you put it on repeat. Sometimes less is a whole lot more.

As Clouds Form - Dream Sequence (Self Release)

Vertical Divider
Nothing really new going on here, even the transatlantic remote collaboration is quite standard these days, but despite that and its simplistic and familiar synthesised nature it has an undeniably soothing and minimal  guitar induced hypnotic charm that encourages repeat listening, preferably whilst staring at the perfectly matched aquatic visuals.
