The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

WHAT WE SAY:

Dubby aqautic ambient, neuro-enhancing New Age vibes & structurally challenged chillout abound in this wonderful, wobbly, hazy & lazy voyage into parallel chill out universes from Сад for Gost Zvuk.

WHAT THE RELEASE NOTES SAY:

The Chizhevsky Biotic Institute of Ecological Music welcomes us with its magnificent glass cases as the sun shines through them to illuminate the wide space inside. It’s decorated with various plants. Deciduous, coniferous, exotic—all of them have made themselves at home in the institute’s hall. A junior researcher we stumbled upon during the walk has assured us that the plants are in great shape. Along with the sun—the beacon of life—they are supported by the music researched at the institute by the composers Vladislav Dobrovolski and Vasiliy Stepanov.

Dobrovolski and Stepanov’s colleagues state that they are the leading specialists in biotic solar music—locally and worldwide. And the music itself is, first of all, a triumph of Russian science and thought. Long ques of researches, thirsting for knowledge of the extraordinary music that has healing properties and is able neglect the effects of time, would line up after the composers at numerous international exhibitions where they presented their findings.

Behold the fruit of Dobrovolski and Stepanov’s labour. These are their latest projects—the very recordings broadcasted continuously via the radio system in the corridors of the Biotic Institute of Ecological Music. Flowing into one another, they spread along the sun-scorched light spaces like a sonic carpet. Thanks to it, the institute’s staff don’t seem to experience any stress. The music, which primarily works with the body (“at a basic level,” as the composers note), paradoxically heals the soul.
