The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Recommendations Round up - 27/10/2018

Common Series - cs07 (las canchas)

Weekend primed, whimsical & wobbly, tempo variable, memory jogging, dub and ethno tickled electronic music with a bit of Balearic cheese & smooth sax thrown in for good measure from Common Series.

Liv.E - Hoopdreams

Fresh and pleasingly twisted urban music from Dallas. Check out the soulful, micro dosed, sounds & wobbly beats of Liv.e & then check out her FRANK ep straight after.

Venezuala 70 - Cosmic Visions of a Latin American Earth (SoulJazz Records)

A mind blowing compilation of underground 1970's music from Venezuela, blending rock, folkloric, psychedelic, electronic, funk, jazz & Latin rhythms into incredible cosmic fusions. Definitely one of my compilations of the year from Soul Jazz Records (Official Page)

East of the valley Blues - Ressemblera (Astral Spirits)

My favourite finger licking guitar picking twin brothers, East of the Valley Blues are back with an epic duet of stylistically meandering, mesmerising, American primitive playing for Astral Spirits.

Gallery Six - Kazemakase (Hibernate REcordings)

Let the field recorded sounds of nature, gentle synth washes & soothing drones of Gallery Six's latest, all too short, release from Halifax ambient outpost Hibernate Recordings ease your start of working week pain.

Kasper Bjorke Quartet - The Fifty Eleven Project (Kompakt)

Music with strings & classical piano somehow seems more appropriate on a Sunday. Couple it with seriously crafted electronics & a genuine narrative, in this case one man's battle with cancer & I'm totally sold. Press play early in the day on the new Kasper Bjørke LP for Kompakt Records it's two hours long.
