The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Recommendations Round up - 20/10/2018

Various Artists - A Decade Deeper (Mexican Summer)

Congratulations to
Mexican Summer on hitting ten years in fine style & what better way to celebrate than with unreleased music from the likes of Ariel Pink, Dungen, Jefre Cantu-Ledesma & a whole host of other great artists. Here's to another ten.

Julien Dyne - TEal (Soundway Records)

With a nod to the dance music pioneers, New Zealand's Julien dyne takes the baton with aplomb & launches his own distinctive blend of electronic soul, jazz, tropical dance music futurism for Soundway Records. Fresh & one of the dance music LPs of this year.

Enno Voss - Currents (Unperceived)

Soothing, optimistically melancholic, electro-acoustic, guitar led sounds from
Enno Voss on Unperceived Records. Ideal for wondering where the summer went.

Ourra - Crystal Palms (Star Creature Universal Vibrations)

Coming through like Jan Hammer with a funk injection check out the 80's cinematic analog boogie sounds on the new
Ourra LP on the ever reliable Star Creature Universal Vibrations. Killer album.

Eli Keszler - Stadium (Shelter Press)

An incredible LP of skittering, frenetic but oddly not propulsive percussion under a shifting landscape of floating, very listenable, even relaxing, avant-garde electro acoustic jazz. Contradictory, indefinable & pretty much unique new music from Eli Keszler for
Shelter Press.

Carla dal Forno - Top Of The Pops (Self Released)

If you're going to cover a tune do it for love not money, make it your own and do it well.
Carla dal Forno does all three in her own stripped back post punk, minimal pop way.

Andreolina - An Island In The Moon (Aguirre Records)

The jazz tickled, drone enabled, vintage Italian minimal & ambient sounds of Andreolina, kindly reissued by Aguirre Records, is hitting the Sunday sweet spot.
