A fine & fresh debut release from  Shashidhar as she declares her arrival on the nu-soul scene with this excellent debut. Rather than being an Erykah wannabee she has a unique parallel dimensional jazz voice & rides some great out there futuristic cosmic beatscapes to further set her apart.

A deep ambient dub techno transmission from Russia that sounds like it was recorded in a studio set up in a Siberian cave. Nice melodic touches give the release a surface lightness that belies the low end weight.

Better recognised as a DJ, Rebecca Vasmant has just landed on the production scene with a Richter scale wallop. Just check out this slice of spiritual, ambient jazz with the vocal delights of Nadya Albertsson. Stunning.

A couple of slices of cultured, home recorded pop from Sofia Bolt. Light & breezy without being saccharine  and just as you think things can't get any better she switches into sultry spoken French on the second track.

L'Eclair - нощта (Bongo Joe)

L'Eclair continue to twist their Afro dub fusion sounds into interesting stylistic shapes with a pleasing psychedelic  swirl. One for the post Fela shroom massive and, a prize if you tell me how to pronounce the EP title.

Ruby Rushton - Sun Khosi (22A)

Ruby Rushton were ahead of the UK jazz resurgence and continue to delight with every release and this 7" (digi out now, plastic to come) is another winner. The spiritual "Sun Khosi" & its perky percussion is a great opener before "Chrysalis" finishes things off with a bit more bump.

After the post Tinariwen desert blues bandwagon jumpers it takes a bit to get me excited about a new release but this first single from the new Alhousseini LP has a depth of Saharan soul that few can match.
