The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

WHAT THE RELEASE NOTES SAY

Mr. Bird has been laying down the soul, jazz, funk & hip hop grooves for credible indie labels for a while now. With this new material he takes a look forward rather than back & fuses the spirit of Fela & his Afrobeat legacy at an atomic level with deep, far out spacey synths, gives it a rocket fuel bass injection & launches the EP into deep, cosmic, Afrofuturistic territory.

What Mr. Bird says:

“Martian Arts:” A study in attempting to communicate with aliens via the medium of filtered and electronic sounds and compelling rhythms. After hearing some early demo versions of these tracks, the SMM head honcho asked me to go cosmic, psychedelic and see where I could rework or push these tracks. I’m really happy he asked me to take them somewhere new and super happy with the resulting music, hope you dig them! Peas,

Steve (Mr Bird)
