The Slow Music Movement Blog

Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but strongly advise you just hit play and make up your own mind.
There's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find these recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Lune très belle - Ovale (boiled)

What You Ears Say & The Cover Looks Like

What We Say

For all sonically inquisitive souls, composer & singer Frédérique Roy pooh-poohs verses & choruses; thoughtfully guiding & lighting the grey areas between whimsy & intent, soundart & structure, singer songwriting & experimentation, consciousness & slumber with her disarmingly fragile Gallic vocals & pleasantly odd sonic manner via Boiled Records.

What The Release Notes Say

Lune très belle is the song project of Montreal-based composer, singer and writer Frédérique Roy. Ovale, her new album is a series of image-driven texts sung in French, flowing on haptic, morphing textures. The music, also carried by Robin Dann, Philippe Melanson, Simon Labbé and Samuel Gougoux oscillates between clearly structured outlines and improvisatory ventures.
