The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Jon Keliehor - Fables Of Forests (Invisible Inc.)

WHAT THE COVER LOOKS LIKE:

WHAT WE SAY:

A frankly stunning new age of New Age LP from Jon Keliehor for
Invisible, Inc. as he creates a deeply entwined symbiotic musical ecosystem where indigineous instrumentation is nourished by field recordings of mother earth & enabled by advanced electronic synthesis to create a perfectly balanced & enduring ambient permaculture. Wow....

WHAT YOUR EARS SAY:
WHAT THE PRESS RELEASE SAYS:

Fables of Forests and Light exists somewhere beyond the temporal world, suggesting harmonic structures, sonic places that connect forests and music. For some, the Harmonic Forest provides refuge, a place to re-animate deep interests of living in cooperation with nature. Others find magic, an alternate reality superimposed across time.

Rainforests are like another world, hosting life-forms we’ve barely come to terms with. What music exists here? Go ahead, lie close to the ground and listen to all the connected spaces.

One story goes that a certain collection of older music instruments emerged from the great Rainforests many years ago, but have now decided to return and explore their origins. Some of these instruments have adopted disguises that they might tread stealthy on the jungle floor. Similar to shadows, they offer patterns and rhythms that nature knows all too well.

"There are things Known, and things Unknown, and in between are the Doors . . .”
Aldous Huxley
