The Slow Music Movement Blog

Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but strongly advise you just hit play and make up your own mind.
There's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find these recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

Harry Towell -  Photo Synthesis (Whitelabrecs) vs Ian Hawgood & David Cordero - Memory Blossom (Home Normal)

What Your Ears Say & The Covers Look Like

What We Say

These 2 wonderful EPs are produced by two of the UKs finest ambient producers - Ian Hawgood's with the help of Spanish maestro David Cordero with Harry running solo. As they also run arguably the two finest English ambient labels, it seemed like a soporiphic soundclash was in order, so here they are side by side. Once you've compared the two then I suggest you spiral into their respective label wormholes - Home Normal & Whitelabrecs; just tie a rope to the sofa & yourself so you can find your way out again.

What The Release Notes Say

'memory blossom' is an ethereal ambient work of synth and guitar suites that focus on hope, love and friendship after a personal loss of short term memory. It is an album made between friends slowly bringing together a positive and hopeful outlook in the present moment, with each day as it comes bringing memories together as they float like blossom. Through music and friendship these beautiful floating parts become less simply dream, but more grounded in the self, fusing together to identify the one through the softest of voices.

Records is a digital record series created by Whitelabrecs, to run alongside our physical releases. These editions aim to transform the digital format into something that can be experienced in a similar way to a listener’s interaction with a real, white label vinyl record. Each edition includes a special PDF scrapbook including polaroids and liner notes.

We do not publish details about the concepts or production methods of a release, so that the liner notes and content in each scrapbook will give you the background of each edition in the series.
