Unusually in recent weeks I've been waking up to the sound of birds in the heart of Lisbon rather than the distant hum of a waking city. Lucky to have a roof over my head & being tucked up under a duvet, today it was the oddly comforting sound of rain splashing on the balcony that eased me into full consciousness. There really is no better soundtrack than nature, thanks to Free To Use Sounds I can share the experience.

Recorded in the heart of Alfama! I recorded these rain sound effects from our apartment with open windows and from the rooftop terrasse.

Alfama is known for its beautiful small winding roads and tight sidewalks. Almost all streets are entirely made of cobblestone. Alone this fact makes this sound so unique because it creates a completely different sound as it would drip on regular concrete.

As a bonus, I included another binaural recording while walking around with an umbrella!
This sound library is perfect to recreate soundscapes that are taking place in Lisbon or in any city with lots of cobblestones!
