The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

EPs & Lps Round up - June 3rd, 2022

Germana Stella La Sorsa - Vapour (33 Jazz)

Vertical Divider
Nudging boundaries as she goes, La Sorsa satisfies her sonic curiosity by using her jazz vocal virtuosity in familiar and extraordinary ways to lead her fine ensemble on an exploration of the listenable end of the jazzant-garde, where the wide open spaces and odd turns encourage you to question what you knew.

Ellen Pettersson - Origo (Flora & Fauna)

I love a good fusionist and Pettersson certainly ticks that box, with her jazz juiced, post rocking, electronic nodding, earthly rooted whilst  looking at the stars, new LP. It certainly doesn't sound like much else around - itself an achievement, but to sound this good as well deserves a medal.

antarctic Wastelands & Matt Tondut - Undergrowth (Echos In The Valley)

Vertical Divider
A.W. and Matt Tondut take natural field recordings from their respective Hong Kong and Australian homes, and much to the dismay of border control proceed to cross pollinate them into this picturesque ambient soundscape, that just goes to show the flag might be different, culture wars are getting fought but basically we're all pretty much the same.

TERM3 - SHA (TERMINA)

More fantastical fusion, this time of the abstract dub variety as TERM3 comes through like a Nyabinghi drummer from the future teleported into Tubby's echo chamber as the spirit of Klaus Schulze guides him around all the unfamiliar studio gear.
