The Slow Music Movement Blog

Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but strongly advise you just hit play and make up your own mind.
There's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find these recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

David Cordero & Rhucle - Summer Chronicles (Home Normal)

What Your Ears Say & The Cover Looks LIke

What We Say

Two of the hardest working men in ambient music - Spain's David Cordero & Japan's Rhucle have teamed up on this particularly blissful new LP for the UK's ambient HQ, Home Normal. Just in time to help with your autunmnal SAD & banish the bad news blues they reminisce about the summer of '22, marveling at the sounds of peak nature, warm evenings spent outdoors & high levels of vitamin D. Your serene Sunday soundtrack is here.

What the Release Notes Say

The first in our series of four David Cordero releases between 2023 and 2024 is a wonderful collaboration between himself and the great Japanese ambient composer, Rhucle. 'Summer Chronicles' marks the first collaboration between the pair, and the first release with Rhucle on Home Normal.

'This album was created to reflect our memories of the summer of 2022. During several weeks we exchanged some sketches and over a number of edits and adjustments we were able to evolve the gentle sounds reflective of nature in that period that encompassed our vision for the organic work we were able to create together.

'Summer Chronicles' was titled by David as that summer he was playing the videogame 'Xenoblade Chronicles'. We felt the title brought together the sounds and textures of the album in its theme and focus perfectly.

The cover photo was taken by Rhucle in a nature park in Japan.

We hope you like this collection of songs.'

Thank you for listening.
