The Slow Music Movement Blog

Mostly we put our daily recommendations here for the blog readers among you, although occasionally we go longform.
Reading about music is a bit like looking at pictures of food - not nearly half as much fun as getting involved, so we scribble a brief intro to hopefully whet your appetite but you're better off just hitting play. Not very "slow" I know but there's a lot of music to check these days & hopefully you'll find the recommendations a handy filter.
Trust your ears, not opinions.

A_D_A - random_music_generator (II) [La Petite Chambre]

WHAT THE COVER LOOKS LIKE:

WHAT WE SAY:

An ambiguous description in the sleeve notes seems somehow appropriate when you listen to the the fluid, shape shifting electronic tones & ambient drones of A_D_A's second instalment of his random_music_generator project for La Petite Chambre Records. However much, if any, human input (besides the generator programming?) was involved, it's sounding mighty fine drifting & shimmering around my sunlit room.

WHAT YOUR EARS SAY:

WHAT THE RELEASE NOTES SAY:

André Veloso stay on the random path with his project A_D_A. The new album 'random_music_generator (II)', was built this time with new random equations: only virtual electronic instruments.

A musical project of chance, of random. Of the cycle between continuum, discrete, and again continuum. Mixed, confused randomities that become concrete by being created, listened, recorded, but the random functions now have new variables, making the possible outcome even more unpredictable.

Randomities of tones, randomities of grains, of sound particles. Creative restrictions that project ideas, like quantum functions collapsing into sounds as played. Ephemeral moments that became perennial when recorded. A moment captured, materializing into sound, transmuting into information. Randomities that perpetuate and continue it's cycled by also being appreciated in a random way.

Random_music_generator (II) is a function-album that generates a sequence of tones that cannot be reasonably predicted better than by a random chance and can be better appreciated by random listening. But this time created with inside chaos, a vortex where all of us were dragged into, with increased uncertainties and unpredicted results.
