The still fresh faced, guitar playing and singing Kenneth Pattengale and Joe Ryan, aka The Milk Carton Kids shouldn't need too much introduction to indie-folk fans; they've been at it for fifteen years now with a steady stream of high quality releases and a constant touring schedule; efforts that have seen them nominated for a Grammy. If you aren't aware and like soft edged folk, the sounds of two guitars and voices in harmony and intimate singer songwriting then hit play without delay.

This month they've just released their latest single, "Blue Water" and fans won't be disappointed. It's an ode to those memories - minor and major, that refuse to be pigeonholed and gather dust in the memory's filing system, but which insist on drifting back into the full consciousness at all sorts of mundane and unexpected moments, something that certainly makes me stop, reflect and wonder why.
The guitars set a subtly perky, most pleasant course from the off, opening the door and inviting you into to the warm, well lit song, and the vocals adopt a suitably reflective, and gentle tone, extending the invitation which is hard to refuse. The guitars and vocals dip in and out of earshot throughout, imitating the recurring and persistent memories, allowing pause for thought and momentary trips down memory lane - the past and present converging in reflective folk form.
