Who knows what happened? There's not even much of an online trail to go on outside of some faded Youtube videos, but Sayde Price is back after a ten year absence. Rumours abound: going full on recluse in a log cabin, sailing the world without thought for time and destination and even incarcerated for a crime of passion, only she will ever really know. But all that really matters is that she's back, and sounding mighty fine too.

Straight out of the womb we greet the world with a cry, and many don't stop until they leave this mortal coil. This latest single from Price's welcome return to the world of music is a meditation on that initial utterance, in her words, "an expression of shock and overwhelm".
Surprisingly, for a song with such inspiration, it has a a particularly gentle vibe. The guitar is caressed rather than played, the simple motif unhurriedly repeated instantly worms its way into your consciousness, its subtle hypnotic charm the perfect bed for the vocal treat to come.
With her pleasingly distinctive vocals she gently rides the guitar, looking pain and ecstasy in the eye, ready for the inevitable doses of both, but ultimately acting as a sweetly sung palliative for "the pain and at times chaotically disillusioning experience of being human." It's certainly now on my SHTF, as well as the Slow Indie-Folk and Slow Playlists.
