Michael Andrew Griffith is a modern day troubadour. Originally hailing from California, he's been running from the sun ever since with a long spell in Oregon before relocating under the central European cloud cover of Berlin, where he's probably now got more jackets than guitars.
In this age of "content" demanding platforms he's also got a refreshingly less is more approach to music releases over the last twenty years, preferring to unhurriedly contemplate life before transforming his observations on the human condition and existence into art, via his accomplished acoustic guitar work and dreamy falsetto tones.
He goes deep too on "Woods of Error", the opening track from his new EP, where he comes to terms with the suicide of his first love back in 2006. Despite the subject matter, which lets face it doesn't come much more painful, he gives the well articulated anguish and inevitable feelings of guilt a hopeful uplifting tune that showcases his intricate picking, propelled by warm, insistent bass notes that pulse through the speakers like the heartbeat that was lost. Make sure you check out the rest of the EP as well.
