Joseph Jack - Sirens

Joseph Jack is another in a long line recently of blurry, somewhat reticent artists that prefer to let their music do the talking without giving anything away online about their history, vision or what they eat for breakfast, and in today's era of surveillance capitalism who can blame him? I did manage to track down a Tiktok video though that suggests that he's a guitar, or guizouki in this case, playing singer songwriter who obviously knows his way around a digital audio workstation.

What I do know though is that he's just released his debut single and I like it. Looped vocal snippets and soft minimal guitar get the ball rolling in gentle fashion, the guitar patiently evolving into freer flowing forms to herald the introduction of the man himself and his warm, affable, velvety vocals delivering a nice line in lyrically ambiguous yet compelling vocals. But just wait for the K&D Sessions era downtempo dub riddim which eases this track past the stiff singer songwriter competition and a well deserved blog spot. Apparently there's more to come and I'm now following with interest.
