A new year and a new James Bright single hits the streaming services and the blog, he's really on a mission to explore the possibilities that have opened up since his slide into electronic music realms.

"Kites" takes its cue from nature rather than string guided pieces of material. Bright dusted off his binoculars recently and, inspired by a couple of Red Kites that nested near his studio, fired up his synths to embark on a modular hardware driven flight of fancy with the pair. He wisely used percussive tones & ceremonial chimes to overcome his initial uncertainty about leaping the nest, and made up for his lack of wings by deploying zero gravity ambient electronic pads and propulsive motifs, that knit tightly to the percussion, before soaring over the surrounding landscape - dipping, swooping, chuckling at the absurdity of of traffic lights and jams, before rising again to rare machine music heights.

Track inspiration comes in many forms and at any time, but few have the ability to translate their fleeting thoughts or fascination into meaningful music like this, and "Kites" is boding well for Bright's 2026 release program.
