Geomancer - Sen (Hardman Studios) [Post-Rock]

Led by guitarist Dale Hardman, Geomancer sprung to life in 2022 as an outlet for his solo work before recruiting fellow Adelaide musicians Todd James and Tyson Mahoney for some studio company, and to lend a hand.

Apparently their forthcoming album is a rumination on galactic existence - something I'm always up for, and "Geo", their latest single, certainly has a stare into the cosmic void vibe going on, with plenty of space to let you contemplate your place in this infinite, ever expanding space. Hypnotic, barely moving post-rock ambience is the order of the day, and boy is it an exercise is restrained, less is most definitely more, musicianship.
The drums are bed-bound, lethargic at best - the perfect rhythmic skeleton for Hardman's mixture of minimal, introspective guitar that takes its sweet time as well. The reverb is turned up to eleven, whilst some, at times. dub-like effects spiral up through the atmosphere looking for answers, but returning even more dazed and confused.
If you're in no hurry either then leave your ego at home, amble far from the city lights to tune in, turn on and gaze up at the stars, and try and work out where you fit into the great scheme of things. Repeat until you're suitably humbled.
