Spending a good time in New Oreleans and now residing in Nashville has probably done multi-instrumentalist Chis Lippincott the world of musical good. He's certainly got a lot to say, with a full bodied psychedelic indie-pop moniker - Nico Son, as well as electroacoustic singer songwriter material under his own name that explore themes of hope on this mortal coil, not to mention producing work for various artists.

For his latest single, “Over and Over” he's teamed up with fellow Nashville resident - singer songwriter Maya de Vitry (brother of TSMM approved Lyle de Vitry), and saxophone and clarinet playing David Williford to wonderful effect.

Starting off with a refreshingly ambiguous motif, it's not long before de Vitry adds her serious vocal talents which will surely pierce all but the coldest of hearts. Instrumentation from the boys is pleasingly succinct, the minimal synths, clarinet and piano mostly tasked with weaving simple patterns to elevate this tale of simple childhood moments that help shape the way we live our lives once youthful innocence has faded, although when de Vitry hits those high notes they don't hang about either, springing into more uplifting, familiar melodic forms. This is as serious a slice of alt-pop as you'll hear all year, honestly it's a really beautiful track - tune in.
